The vending business can be a wonderful opportunity for the right individual or company. Typically startup costs are minimal and you can start with only one machine installed at one location. Equipment costs are generally the biggest expenditure but even then you can purchase used vending machines or refurbished machines for a fraction of the cost of a new one. Then find a good location with plenty of foot traffic where you can place your machine with no upfront cost but rather under a share of revenue contract with the location owner. This will also help to minimize initial expenditures.

Depending on the location and the type of customers that will be patronizing your vending machines all that’s basically left is stocking your machine with appropriate products. Big warehouse stores are a great place to purchase inventory in bulk at discounted prices. You’ll need to figure in time and travel costs to service your machine. As you learn the business and begin to understand the type of revenue you can expect then you’ll be able to grow your vending business one location at a time. After a while you may find yourself with several locations performing very well and earning a nice steady income with relatively low operating costs and time commitment.

Many people when investing in a start up vending business often think they must buy either new or used vending machines. The only real problem with a new machine is that they can be a little costly for someone just starting out. Of course the advantage is you get a new machine that is in tip top shape and is beautiful to look at.

On the other side of the spectrum are used vending machines, which are considerably cheaper but can at times be of low quality and prone to problems. However, instead of new or used there is another alternative and it really is what most people should consider when fist starting out and that’s a used machine that’s been completely refurbished.

Refurbished machines start out as used but then go through an extensive rebuild. More often than not refurbished machines are just as attractive and dependable as new machines but can be had at a fraction of the cost. It is for this reason that refurbished vending machines may be the best solution especially when first starting out in the vending business.
